2. Natyon Biomorph campaign
Athletes featured: Sofia Goggia, Laura Pirovano, Marta Bassino, Asja Zenere, Christof Innerhofer, Florian Schieder, Mattia Casse, Benjamin Alliod.
UYN asked for a campaign around the technical baselayer worn by some of the best national ski teams in the world. The challenge was that a baselayer is the one thing nobody sees, so I decided not to show the gear at all and to show the people wearing it instead.
The concept was to catch elite skiers in their most intimate moments, far from the podium and the finish line. I asked them to reveal their most hidden side, and then stayed close with the camera: a face turned to the sun with eyes closed, teammates laughing in the snow minutes after a training run, a technician at work in the service room, a board game after lunch, a head resting on a bar counter after too much laughter.
I wanted the images to feel like moments rather than poses. Each one is captioned with the exact time it happened, like a line from a private diary, so the viewer reads it as a glimpse into someone’s day rather than an ad.
